It is an area of intellectual endeavour and consulting focus that I see increasing as brands accept they are competing in chronically uncertain times. Above is the introduction to a speech that Paul Saffo, Managing Director of Foresight at Discern Analytics, gave to the Commonwealth Club of California. Saffo declares that the U.S. economy has entered a new era of great uncertainty. In what he deems the "turbulent economy”, Saffo argues that "the new normal is volatility."
