Throughout each year, the staff over at brandchannel.com watch how many time brands appear in the top movies of the year and tally-up the results. Movies are selected based on weekend ticket sales in the United States with the top performer being chosen for scrutiny.
Brandchannel records all “brand mentions and appearances deliberate or coincidental. To be noted, brands must be mentioned or be clearly identifiable by logo, brand name, or other intentionally placed characteristic such as design, color, shape, etc.”
Their research methodology is somewhat less than rigorous as brandchannel itself states: “brandchannel watches each film attentively, but notes brands as an audience member would with little or no added research.”
Below are the best performing brands, in terms of appearances in films, in 2007. The number represents the number of films the brand was spotted in.
