Top of Mind

  • “More than ever, high-end fashion houses are selling to the full spectrum of prices and customers. And, surprisingly, cheap-chic brands may be giving couture—astronomically expensive made-to-measure clothing—a new lease on life.” - The Wall Street Journal

It was probably the first possum heart transplant.

(Sorry, Mississippi.:))

Patrick Collings

The Cirlot agency have emailed me this link http://www.umc.edu/hardy/ to support their claims that the Mississippi surgeon did perform the first heart transplant by inserting a chimpanzee’s heart into a dying man, which continued to beat for 90 minutes. Taking nothing away from the surgeon, James Hardy, this does not constitute the world’s first heart transplant which is universally recognized by medical authorities as a human heart into a human being. Shumway, who pioneered the techniques used by Barnard, had been transplanting dog hearts into dogs for years to prove the theory and mechanics of heart transplants. The Mississippi Believe It advertisement, in my opinion, remains misleading.
